Fellowship Details

Learn

The year-long funded Fellowship program includes the following learning opportunities:

  • Participation in up to three courses within HGSE Professional Education’s portfolio of programs in the K-12 category.
  • The first course Fellows complete is Leading Learning, an online program beginning in February and ending in May.
  • After successful completion of Leading Learning, Fellows will complete one to two additional programs of their choosing, as long as the selections are relevant to the Fellow’s problem of practice and learning goals.
  • The Fellowship is usually a hybrid experience of both virtual and on-campus programs. Many Fellows choose to come to Harvard’s campus in the summer to attend one on-campus program.
  • Submission of a final project that will include an action plan and knowledge sharing outline.  The action plan will be worked on through live sessions with HGSE faculty to support Fellows in refining their problem of practice, constructing a theory of action, and identifying evidence of impact.

Fellows will receive a certificate from HGSE Professional Education upon successful completion of the MEPLI program, in addition to the certificates granted by each individual program in which they participate.

Collaborate

Fellows collaborate together to:

  • Present in monthly cohort meetings in a team with other Fellows on a topic of their choosing that reflects their areas of expertise and/or content learned through HGSE programs.
  • Participate in the MEPLI Fellows online network, a virtual hub for Fellows to connect across cohorts and countries.
  • Attend and/or present in webinars and workshops hosted by MEPLI Conveners, whether in person or virtually, to an audience of educators across the Middle East.

Implement

MEPLI prioritizes knowledge sharing both within the MEPLI community and within each teacher educator’s professional network.  Throughout the Fellowship year and afterwards, Fellows will:

  • Identify and work with a sponsor (a colleague or supervisor) who will support their participation in the Fellowship program and implementation of their learning. This requires meeting at least quarterly with the sponsor to report and reflect on progress.
  • Contextualize relevant learning content and share it with teachers within their networks.
  • Integrate course content into their current practice to enhance teaching methodologies when leading both adult and young learners.

Sustain

Following completion of the Fellowship year, Fellows will:

  • Continue to participate in the online community forum, webinars and MEPLI convenings in the region.
  • Mentor future cohorts of MEPLI Fellows.
  • Share knowledge through writing articles and publications to allow for ongoing discussion and development on current topics in education. The MEPLI website features articles written by our Fellows to allow a platform for knowledge sharing.

Who Should Participate

Teacher educators in Jordan, Lebanon, and Palestine with demonstrated experience in teacher training and development in the context of schools, higher education, government programs, or NGOs are eligible to apply to the program.  Competitive applicants also demonstrate a track record of pursuing professional development opportunities and nurturing the educators within their network.

The MEPLI Fellowship program aims to impact a large number of educators, so competitive applicants will be in a role in which they can access and train other K-12 teachers on their learning throughout the program.

Note that in addition to the MEPLI Fellowship, Professional Education devises unique fellowship programs for education leaders. If you are interested in learning more, please contact us.
