Fellowship FAQs

Q: Who can apply to the MEPLI Fellowship?

A: This program is open to teacher-educators (teachers who teach teachers) from Jordan, Lebanon, and Palestine. The program is particularly focused on educators who work with marginalized and low-income students.  Strong candidates will have demonstrated experience training teachers and contributing to workshops and other training activities that impact their communities.

Q: Where can I find the application for the MEPLI Fellowship?

Q: What English proficiency test scores are required?

A: We do not require any English proficiency test scores to be submitted, but we expect applicants to possess fluency in English-ILR level 3 in order to be successful in the program. English-ILR level 3 is equivalent to IELTS 6.5 and TOEFL iBT 95.

Q: How many hours does the Fellowship require per week?

A: On average, the Fellowship requires a commitment of 5-8 hours per week. This includes the time required for coursework and Fellowship-related activities.

Q: How much does the program cost?

A: All programs selected as part of the Fellowship are fully funded by Harvard Graduate School of Education through a generous gift to the School. The value of the scholarship is up to $10,000.

Q: If I applied before and was not accepted to the Fellowship, can I apply again?

A: Yes, you can apply to the Fellowship again if you meet the criteria.

Q: Will I be able to participate in a Professional Education program at the HGSE campus in Cambridge?

A: We intend for the 2023 Fellowship to be a hybrid experience of both virtual and on-campus programs. Programs on campus typically take place during the summer months and range from 3-6 days in length. 

Q: May I apply for programs to continue my learning after the Fellowship ends?

A: Yes, you may, and we strongly encourage you to learn continuously throughout your career. The majority of Professional Education programs are open to the general public for application.

Q: What is the application fee for the MEPLI Fellowship?

A: There is no fee for the MEPLI Fellowship application.

Q: What is the Fellow’s commitment or obligation after the end of the fellowship year?

A: Every Fellow must provide a detailed action plan with how he/she plans to address their problem of practice and to share their learning within their networks. Knowledge sharing activities include, but are not limited to, workshops, programs, blogs, and publications.
