Why apply?

As a Fellow, you will:

  • Join a cohort of 25+ peers from your region
  • Develop skills for sharing your expertise as you interact with your cohort
  • Benefit from the expertise of your cohort and past Fellows
  • Participate in Professional Education programs at the Harvard Graduate School of Education
  • Strengthen your leadership within your professional networks and facilitate connections to further collective impact
  • Participate in local and/or virtual professional convenings with your cohort and other change agents
  • Receive support and coaching for incorporating what you learn into your work with teachers

The Application Process

The application process includes submitting an online application with details about your work and responses to short answer questions to assess your interest and compatibility with the program. Applicants will also be required to acquire a letter of recommendation from an individual familiar with their work and interest in the MEPLI Fellowship program. Finalists will be selected to participate in a virtual interview.

The application process opens in October or November each year.  Finalists selected for interviews will be notified about interview scheduling in late November or early December.  Acceptance emails are sent at the end of December.

What We’re Looking For

Basic criteria include:

  • a track record of self-improvement through self-sought professional development opportunities; 
  • advanced proficiency in written and spoken English to meet the standards of HGSE coursework (CEFR C1 or better);
  • experience with teacher training;
  • passion, interest, and knowledge about the MEPLI Fellowship program and Professional Education coursework and how those align with the candidate’s goals and work.  

Ideal candidates will also demonstrate

  • access to a large network of teachers to coach and train using methods learned through MEPLI coursework;
  • commitment to the larger professional education community and field through independent research, conference presentations, publications, community service, and other initiatives; 
  • evidence of current work with underprivileged and diverse student communities.

Meeting the requirements provided above does not guarantee admission into the MEPLI Fellowship program. It is a competitive application process and each candidate is evaluated holistically in order to form a diverse and representative cohort.
